The Southern Quarries & Direct Mix Group has been operating in South Australia since 1959.  It employs around 200 people throughout its operations as well as providing full time employment for over 50 contractors, 30 of whom have long term contracts with the group.

The Group was established in 1959, as a contractor with the purchase of 2 trucks.  From this the company moved into quarrying in 1961 with the purchase of the Gawler quarry, and into the ready-mixed concrete industry in 1968.  In 1972 Southern Quarries Pty Ltd commenced as an operating business establishing the Sellicks Quarry.  In 1990 the group established the Price sand quarry and in 2000 a marble deposit was opened up at the Sellicks site.  The business has evolved into a wholly South Australian owned family operation.
